Arnold Health Research Gateway
The Arnold Health Research Gateway lets you connect Google Health data to a participating Arnold School of Public Health research study. You choose whether to authorize the connection and can stop future sharing at any time.

The Gateway encrypts the Google access credentials used for your connection. Participating study applications never receive your Google access or refresh tokens.

Your study asks you to connect your Google Health data.

Before you connect, the Gateway shows the types of data your study is requesting and why.

You choose whether to authorize the requested permissions on Google's permission screen.

If you authorize access, the Gateway retrieves only the Google Health data allowed by the permissions you granted and delivers it to your study. Your study never receives your Google access or refresh tokens.

You can stop future sharing through your study app or Google Account connections. After access ends, the Gateway stops collecting new data from Google.
Who can see your data
Research staff for the study you joined can access data delivered to that study. How the study uses, retains, and shares that data is governed by the study's consent materials and study-specific requirements.
Information Services technical staff operate the Gateway and may access connection and operational information when necessary to operate or secure the service. Human access to Google Health data is limited as described in the Privacy Policy.
The Gateway does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising or marketing, or route one participating study's data to another participating study.
Manage or stop sharing
Manage your connection in the study app you used to enroll. You can also remove the Arnold Health Research Gateway from your Google Account connections.
After you remove access, the Gateway stops collecting new data from Google. Data already delivered to your study remains with the study and is handled according to that study's consent materials and study-specific requirements.

Who operates the Gateway
Information Services at the Arnold School of Public Health built and operates the Gateway as a shared technical service for participating public health research studies.
Information Services operates the Gateway; it does not conduct the participating studies. Each study is run by its own research team, and the study's consent materials govern how that team uses the data it receives.
